The Dial

A mural for The Dial, a hotel and restaurant in the heart of Cambridge, MA. This design was an early exploration into the potential branding for the space. The Dial was named after the 1840 to 1929 transcendental magazine of the same name. Inspiration for the botanical nature of the mural was taken from a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote:

“Not as the dead face of a clock, hardly even such as the Gnomon in a garden, but rather such a Dial as is the Garden itself, in whose leaves and flowers and fruits the suddenly awakened sleeper is instantly apprised not what part of dead time, but what state of life and growth is now arrived and arriving."
